Hotels, Restaurants, Motels, Bed and Breakfast

Polluted indoor air is a
serious environmental health concern as well as an unpleasant experience for
those subjected to it, not least when you are paying for the privilege to
breathe it.
Hotel rooms, if not properly cleaned and ventilated thoroughly, can
hold a number of objectionable odors.
Active Oxygen can eradicate this problem.
A
specific problem is when guests have been smoking in a non-smoking room.
Hotels, Restaurants, Motels, Bed and
Breakfast, Room Odor Removal:
Active
Oxygen
generators are particularly used by hotels and restaurants which have high
standards of hygiene and health. Hotels and restaurants will find a portable
Active Oxygen generator invaluable for performing deodorizing functions where nothing
else would work. Active Oxygen units are used for various areas in the hotel including
the kitchen, lounge, bars, bathrooms, rest rooms, offices, bedrooms and garbage
rooms. Customers that react negatively with chemical deodorizers will
appreciate the "hypo-allergenic" non irritating environment Active
Oxygen creates.
Clean-up time for a problem room is shortened with the use of an Active Oxygen
generator. Turn a room with a bad odor into a fresh new smelling odor free room
often in less than 20-60 minutes! This will allow rooms to be in service much
faster. Rooms will stay fresh and customers will appreciate the fresh odor-free
room that Active Oxygen creates. Also, use of an Active Oxygen generator, will disinfect the air
and surfaces, reducing the risk of bacterial, viral and other infections.
Active Oxygen is proven to be an effective way to reduce room cancellations from odor
complaints.
Housekeeping
Hotels across the world use Active Oxygen for disinfection and odour removal in
rooms. The process is simple and straightforward. After cleaning a hotel room
the housekeeper places an Active Oxygen generator in the room. The room windows should
be closed and the doors to bathrooms should be open. The generator is set to run
for about 30 minutes dependant on hotel room size and extent of the problem. The
housekeeper leaves the hotel room and the Active Oxygen generator and continues with
cleaning the next room. After the set time has lapsed the housekeeper returns
and collects the Active Oxygen generator which can then be moved to the next room.
Maintaining hotel rooms in this manner eradicates
odors caused through
smoking, alcohol spills and even moldy bathroom smells. Active Oxygen retards and even
eliminates growth of black mould sometimes found in damp bathrooms. Chemical use
is drastically reduced and rooms are left smelling fresh.
In the Hotel Eating area
Active Oxygen can be used in the eating area where diners can be provided with
clean air. Active Oxygen assists in the prevention of the spread of airborne viruses
like flu and reduces hay fever symptoms. It controls odours and smoke creating a
more comfortable environment to dine in.
Air-conditioning duct systems are not only a perfect conduit for the spread
of microorganisms, but they are also its source. Their environments are
especially conductive to increasing bacteria and moulds. Because they
re-circulate large volumes of indoor air, they can transport “system generated”
micro-organisms, from room to room and therefore from person to person.
Introducing Active Oxygen into the duct helps to prevent this and at the same time uses
the vent to distribute the Active Oxygen.
Smoking areas
A pilot study by Eskom's advisory service to the commercial sector revealed two
air- cleansing technologies able to assist the hospitality industry in managing smoking legislation. Results posted in the
Engineering magazine showed that, through air
curtains and Active Oxygen generators, the level of pollutants in the smoking sections
was reduced by an average of a third of the international guideline limits.
With legislation specifying that smokers be separated from non-smokers by a
solid partition, occupying no more that 25% of floor space, air quality in such
areas is likely to be poor. Traditional air quality-control methods such as
chlorine or masking fragrances leave residues or do not actually destroy the
tobacco odours and contaminants. Active Oxygen technology is able to oxidize the odours
into safe compounds. Once the odours and toxins have been removed, the Active
Oxygen
molecules decompose back to oxygen. It was found that Active Oxygen dramatically reduced
smoke-related pollutants, scaling these down from double the guideline levels to
a third below. Organic compounds related to tobacco smoke were reduced to
remarkably a tenth of the maximum recommended level. The tests showed that
Active Oxygen
was successful in reducing environmental tobacco smoke components for
non-smokers and smokers alike, thereby increasing the comfort of both smoking
and non-smoking patrons of hotels.
In the Hotel Kitchen
The use of Active Oxygen in the hotel kitchen creates a germ free and sanitary
environment in which to prepare food. This method is far more effective than
conventional cleaning methods as it seeks out all the hard to reach surfaces. By neutralising bacteria,
Active Oxygen also kills all odours including stale cooking
smells, dustbins and drains. Active Oxygen permeates all the surfaces including cracks
and corners and will make your perishables last longer. Active Oxygen will keep your
fruit and vegetable storage area free from bacteria which slows their ripening
and will also extend the life of meat and eggs substantially. As your hotel
kitchen is cleaner and bacteria free, flies and cockroaches are discouraged as
they rely on bacteria to survive.
In the Hotel Bar
Active Oxygen neutralizes odours and is especially effective in ridding these areas of
cigarette smoke even if it has permeated the furnishings. Another odour which
Active Oxygen can help to combat is spilt alcohol. If the generator is left on
overnight, it will completely deodorize the hotel bar area and bar furnishings.
In Hotel Toilets
An Active Oxygen generator can be used in a toilet area to sanitize and rid the
area of stale musty and urine smells, as it kills mildew and bacteria. Active
Oxygen
should be used in conjunction with normal cleansing procedures to enhance the
disinfecting process. However, it will reduce the need for sanitizers and being
a gas, it can reach even the inaccessible areas frequently missed by other
cleaning techniques. Active Oxygen is economical to run, requires no chemical
consumables and maintenance is minimal.
Air Conditioning
The collection of particulate organic material and condensation of
moisture that occurs around the drip pans, condensation coils and duct work
of air conditioning units creates the perfect environment for the growth of
bio films. Not only do these lead to high levels of fungi and bacteria that
become airborne and get transported around the building via air
recirculation, but they also reduce the efficiency and heat transfer of the
systems. Airborne bacteria and fungi do not only present a major health
hazard but also bad smell.
By treating the air conditioning system with
Active Oxygen, you can prevent the
build up of bio films, and consequently the build up of bacteria and fungi.
This will eliminate bad smell and the spread of health problems such as
allergies, rashes, colds, viruses and legionnaires disease. Active Oxygen is not
only the most powerful oxidant treatment there is, but the equipment has
very low maintenance costs, consequently making Active Oxygen not only the most
efficient treatment option, but also one of the simplest.
